The Meeting:

This meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by President Kevin Vetter on November 3, 2018 at the Bismarck Public Library. Other officers in attendance were Brenda Morgan, Vice President, Victor Wingerter, Treasurer and Darrel Spencer, Secretary.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Club Members introduced themselves.

Treasurer Vic Wingerter reported that CDG&MS has all bills paid after a very successful Annual Gem & Mineral Show that was held at the Amvets Club Post # 9 from October 3th (set up) 4th & 5th, 2018.  The treasurers report was approved. Victor also gave an abbreviated report on the income and expenses of the show.

Darrel Spencer, secretary read the minutes from the September 22, 2019 meeting as there had been no meeting during  October due to the annual Rock show.  The Minutes were approved as read.

President Kevin Vetter and the attending members reviewed this years successful Rock show.  Items discussed included the need for (1) a better balance between vendor sales and education sessions, (2) perhaps a vendor responsibility sheet could be looked into, (3) a committee could be formed to see if advertising could be improved in any way.  (4) an inexpensive ad could be posted on the web site, (5) More help from members to set up tables, on Thursday evening.  On the plus side  (1) The fluorescent rock & minerals were a huge draw. (2) Sales were holding somewhat steady.

Old Business:

Thanks was given to all those who helped prepare for the Rock Show such as bringing items for the grab bags stuffing them, set up/tear down, contacting schools, etc.

New Business:

President Kevin Vetter turned the Meeting over to Vice President Brenda Morgan who conducted the officer elections.  The two officer positions that were available were as follows:  The President and the Secretary.  Tom Tupa made a motion that Kevin Vetter be nominated as President and the motion was seconded by Victor Wingerter.  Vice President Brenda Morgan called for any  additional nominations from the floor three times.  Jolene Morgan made a motion to close nominations, Thea Gilbertson seconded the motion and the motion carried.   Jolene Morgan made a motion that Darrel Spencer be nominated as Secretary and the motion was seconded by Vice President Brenda Morgan.   Brenda then called for any nominations from the floor three times and Tom Tupa moved that the nominations cease.  The motion was seconded and passed.

Announcements:

The Christmas party will be at the A & B Pizza’s north location, December 1, 2019 at 1:00 pm.  The Club will buy the pizza.  Club members are responsible for their own beverage. (The gift exchange – rock/gem related with a $5.00 to $10.00 value will be held,

Activity:

The members brought some very interesting rocks for “Show and tell”
