The Meeting:

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by President Kevin Vetter on May 5, 2019 at the Bismarck Public Library.  Other officers in attendance were Vice President, Brenda Morgan; Treasurer, Victor Wingerter; and Secretary, Darrel Spencer.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the club members introduced themselves.

Treasurer, Vic Wingerter reported that the CDG&MS has $8,518.55  in the bank with all bills paid.  Victor also mentioned that members need to pay their 2019 membership dues.  The report was then approved.

Secretary, Darrel Spencer read the minutes from April 7, 2019 CDG&MS meeting and they were approved as read.

Old Business:

The Club reviewed the program for June, 2019, which will be Metal Detecting at McDowell Dam, beginning at 1 P.M..  Shelter # 1 will be available  for our use.  Terry Hoerer has agreed to be the contact person for this program project.

New Business:

     There was no new business, meeting was adjourned.

Program:

This show and tell display had many outstanding examples including a crystal quartz skull, a green metallic Malachite from the Congo, rocks with magnetic tendencies, a meteorite, rocks with fossils of leaves, trilobites, bones, portions of petrified wood, Trinitite which is radioactive, unusual shaped geodes,  and even rocks that mimicked faces because of an eye, a mouth or even an ear placed in just the right spot.

The most interesting rocks were brought by the youngest members of the rock club.

Announcements:

Kim Reuer informed the club that Thea Gilbertson’s husband Mark had passed away on May 1st, 2019.  Kim passed around a sympathy card for our members to sign. Thea is a member of our club.
