Minutes for March 17, 2019

 

The Meeting:

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by President Kevin Vetter on March 17, 2019 at the Bismarck Public Library.  Other officers in attendance were Vice President, Brenda Morgan; Treasurer, Victor Wingerter; and Secretary, Darrel Spencer.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the club members introduced themselves.

Treasurer Vic Wingerter reported that the CDG&MS has $8,536.77  in the bank with all bills paid.  Victor also mentioned that members need to pay their 2019 membership dues.  The report was then approved.

Secretary, Darrel Spencer read the minutes from February 3, 2019 CDG&MS meeting and they were approved.

Old Business:

Vice President, Brenda Morgan reported that 38 different vendors participated In the “Creative Energy Event” that was held at the Gateway Fashion Mall on February 22-24th, 2019.  Positive comments from the membership indicated that this event was well received and that the members would like to do the event again.

New Business: None

With no further business the meeting was adjourned.

Program:

Russ Oliger presented this months program on “Rock Trimming.”   Demonstrating on a portable rock trimmer from Ameritool that uses either a 4 inch or 5 inch blade, Russ stated that this trimmer is water cooled and easy to clean up. He also mentioned  that it was very easy to cut or preform most cabochons and faceting material.  He demonstrated on several different rocks slabs.

In February both Russ and Ray Oliger had attended the 2019 Quartzsite, Arizona Annual Gem & Mineral Show. They brought extra copies of several advertising brochures & catalogs to share with the club.

The rock trimming demonstration and discussion about the 2019 Quartzsite, Arizona Annual Gem & Mineral Show was very interesting.
