2018 November

  1. The Meeting:

This meeting was called to order at 2:00 pm by President Keven Vetter on November 4, 2018 at the      Bismarck Public Library.  Other officers in attendance were Tom Tupa, Vice President, and Victor Wingerter, Treasurer. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Club Members introduced themselves.

Treasurer Vic Wingerter reported that CDG&MS has $8,345.55 in the Bank with all bills paid after the very successful 45th Annual Gem & Mineral Show that had been held at the Amvets Club Post # 9 from October 5th through October 6th, 2018.  The treasurers report was approved.   Victor gave an abbreviated report on the income and expenses of the show.

Darrel Spencer, acting secretary reported highlights from September’s CDG&MS meeting.  (There had been no October meeting because of the CDG&MS’s show.) The Minutes were approved.

  1. Committee Reports:

Brenda Morgan and Jim Nevland, members of the nominating committee reported it had been difficult finding volunteers for some of the positions.   After some discussion volunteers for the three positions of President, Vice-President and Secretary were found. President Keven Vetter then turned the Meeting over to Brenda Morgan, chairperson of the nominating committee who conducted the officer elections.  Tom  Tupa made a motion that Kevin Vetter would remain as President, Brenda Morgan would accept the         position of Vice President and Darrel Spencer would be the new Secretary.  These are two year positions.  Vice President Tom Tupa then moved that nominations cease and an unanimous ballot be cast for the slate of officers as reported.  Motion was seconded by Blaine Nordwall and the motion was carried.

The meeting was then turned back to president Kevin Vetter, who congratulated the upcoming officers.

  1. 3. Announcements:

Emily Ergen has expressed an interest in revitalizing the Pebble Club for Kids.  She has been referred to Becky Barnes who could give her some assistance.

The Christmas party will be at the A & B Pizza’s north location, December 2, 2018 – 1:00 p.m.   The Club will buy the pizza, the members are responsible for their own beverage.  (The gift exchange—rock/gem    related $5.00 to $10.00 value?)

The  tentative CDG&MS 2019 membership meeting and event date sheets were handed out.  Remember that as the year progresses, information will be upgraded.

A sympathy card was sent to Lenore Kuntz on the passing of her husband Matt.  He was a long time Club member.

  1. Activity:

      Members brought some very interesting petrified rocks for “show and tell.”
